Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, one half of the now-separated music duo P-Square, has accused his twin brother, Paul Okoye, of lying about the circumstances surrounding their split, saying he is prepared to reveal what he described as the hidden details behind the collapse of the group.
Peter’s latest comments have reignited the long-running dispute between the brothers, whose relationship and professional partnership have been strained by disagreements over their music business, finances and the management of P-Square.
According to reports, Peter responded to claims and narratives surrounding the group’s breakup by insisting that the public has not heard the complete story from his perspective. He suggested that some accounts of the events have been deliberately distorted and said he would no longer remain silent about what happened behind the scenes.
The brothers’ disagreement has previously involved their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, with disputes over the ownership and management of the P-Square business also becoming part of the public controversy. Reports and Peter’s previous accounts have raised questions about how the group’s earnings and business interests were structured.
P-Square, formed by Peter and Paul Okoye, became one of Africa’s most successful music acts before their relationship deteriorated and the duo separated. They reunited briefly in 2021 but later fell out again, with both brothers subsequently pursuing solo careers.
Peter’s latest statements suggest that the dispute may not be over, as he continues to challenge what he considers inaccurate accounts of the events that led to the group’s latest separation.
The singer’s decision to speak more openly could provide further insight into the financial, managerial and personal disagreements that have surrounded one of Nigeria’s most famous musical partnerships. However, the allegations remain claims from Peter’s side, and Paul has previously offered his own account of the dispute.
