Media practitioners in Cross River State have been urged to make truth, accuracy and professionalism the foundation of their work, amid the growing need for credible information in today’s rapidly changing media environment.
The call was made on Tuesday at the conclusion of a five-day Information and Media Convergence organised by the Forum of Directors of Information in various campuses across Cross River State. The programme brought together students, media practitioners and communication leaders, with other participants joining virtually.
The convener of the programme, Cynthia Maduekwe, described the initiative as an important platform for strengthening ethical journalism and preparing young people for the realities of the modern media industry. She commended the partners, speakers and participants for their contributions, describing the engagement as insightful, engaging and impactful.
Maduekwe explained that the programme was designed to bridge information and skills gaps among young journalists and public relations students while exposing participants to the ethical responsibilities that come with working in the information space. She encouraged participants to take the lessons beyond the programme and apply them within their communities.
