Suspected bandits have killed one person and abducted four others in a fresh attack on a farming community on the outskirts of Wasagu town in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The attackers reportedly stormed the community while residents were carrying out their normal activities, opening fire and causing panic among the villagers. One person was killed during the attack, while four others were taken away by the assailants.
The incident has heightened concerns among residents, particularly farmers who depend on their farmlands for their livelihoods. The latest attack comes amid continued security challenges in parts of Kebbi and other North-West states, where bandit groups have targeted rural communities, farmers and travellers.
Residents reportedly alerted security authorities following the attack, while efforts were being made to track the perpetrators and secure the release of the abducted victims.
The development has renewed calls for stronger security measures in farming communities across Kebbi State, especially as residents continue to face the risk of attacks while accessing their farms.
