Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have disrupted a suspected terrorist logistics network with the arrest of a 48-year-old Chadian woman allegedly transporting illicit drugs, alcoholic beverages and other prohibited items believed to be destined for terrorists operating in the Lake Chad region.

According to the military, the suspect was intercepted during an intelligence-led operation by Sector 3 troops along the Maiduguri–Monguno highway while travelling towards Kwatan Doron Baga in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.

The Acting Military Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North East), Captain Mohammed Goni, said troops recovered a large quantity of illicit drugs, alcoholic drinks and other banned substances concealed in the vehicle. Preliminary investigations suggest the items were intended for insurgents operating in the Lake Chad Islands.

The suspect is currently in military custody, while the recovered items have been secured for further investigation and handover to the appropriate law enforcement agencies. The military appealed to residents to continue providing credible intelligence to support ongoing counter-terrorism operations across the North-East
