The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned power outage at the Katampe 132/33kV Transmission Substation in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to allow engineers carry out preventive maintenance on critical equipment. The maintenance is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 4, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

According to TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the exercise will involve maintenance on the 100MVA 132/33kV Power Transformer (TR1), its auxiliaries and associated switchgear to ensure optimal performance and improve the reliability of electricity supply.

As a result of the maintenance, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to receive bulk power for distribution to customers in parts of Mpape, Maitama, Jahi, Life Camp, Kado, Fish Market, Idu-Karmo, and surrounding communities during the seven-hour period.

TCN apologised for the inconvenience the temporary outage may cause, stressing that routine maintenance is necessary to keep transmission infrastructure in good condition and improve the stability of the national grid
