Security operatives have successfully repelled a suspected bandit attack on Gangaren Makurdi Village in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, forcing the attackers to flee after a fierce gun battle.
According to security sources, the assailants attempted to invade the community in the early hours of Thursday, but were met with stiff resistance from a joint team of security personnel. The exchange of gunfire compelled the suspected terrorists to abandon their mission and escape into nearby forests.
No civilian casualties were reported during the operation. Security forces have since launched a clearance and pursuit operation in the surrounding areas to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent further attacks. Residents have also been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to the authorities.
The successful operation is part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to combat banditry and restore peace across Katsina State and the wider North-West region, where troops have intensified offensive operations against armed groups
