At least four people have been killed following a fresh wave of Russian drone and missile strikes across Ukraine, according to Ukrainian officials, as the war between the two countries continues with renewed intensity.
Authorities said the overnight attacks targeted several regions, including Sumy, where guided aerial bombs struck residential areas, killing civilians and causing extensive damage to homes and public infrastructure. Emergency responders were deployed to rescue survivors and assess the destruction.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attacks and renewed calls for Ukraine’s international partners to accelerate the delivery of advanced air defence systems and military assistance. Ukrainian officials said air defence units intercepted a significant number of drones and missiles during the assault, preventing even greater casualties.
The latest bombardment comes as Ukraine continues to intensify strikes on Russian energy and transport infrastructure, with both sides exchanging long-range attacks in an escalating phase of the conflict. The continued hostilities have deepened humanitarian concerns and further complicated efforts to achieve a ceasefire.
Despite repeated international calls for restraint and renewed diplomatic efforts, the conflict shows little sign of easing, with civilians on both sides continuing to bear the brunt of the violence.
