The Plateau State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on the Federal and Plateau State governments to take decisive action to end the persistent insecurity in the state, urging authorities to protect lives and property. The appeal comes amid renewed attacks on communities in parts of Plateau.
In a statement issued on Friday, the association expressed deep concern over the recurring killings, destruction of property and displacement of residents. It said the continued violence has left many communities living in fear and has disrupted normal social and economic activities.
CAN urged security agencies to intensify intelligence gathering, strengthen security operations in vulnerable areas and ensure that those responsible for the attacks are identified, arrested and prosecuted. The group stressed that safeguarding the lives and property of citizens remains the primary responsibility of government.
The association also appealed to residents to remain law-abiding, cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information, and continue to pray for lasting peace in Plateau State.
