Gunmen have abducted Rev. Dr. Samuel Gbinde and two members of his congregation from the NKST Church, Andyar, in Ishan Classis, Benue State, prompting the church to appeal for urgent intervention from security agencies and governments.

The abduction occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, when the attackers stormed the pastor’s residence within the church premises and whisked away the cleric alongside two worshippers. The incident was confirmed in a statement issued by the Executive Committee of the Nongo u Kristu u i Ser u sha Tar (NKST) Church.

Describing the incident as heartbreaking, the church called on its clergy, members, congregations and supporters to unite in prayer for the safe and unconditional release of the abducted victims. It also prayed for strength and comfort for their families and the entire church community.

The church further appealed to the Benue State Government, the Federal Government, and security agencies to intensify rescue efforts and ensure those responsible are arrested and prosecuted.

The latest incident adds to growing concerns over the spate of kidnappings and attacks in parts of Benue State, where churches, communities and travellers have increasingly come under attack by armed groups.
