Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have arrested two suspects allegedly connected to the recent attempted attack on the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State. The arrests were made during an intelligence-led operation as security agencies intensified investigations into the incident.

According to security sources, the suspects were apprehended in the Trade Centre area of Jos South. One of them has been identified as Mr. Aboi, while the identity of the second suspect has not been officially disclosed. Both are currently in custody and are being interrogated to obtain intelligence that could lead to the arrest of other members of the suspected armed group.

The arrests come days after troops foiled a midnight attack on the NIPSS campus, killing one suspected attacker after a gun battle. During that operation, soldiers recovered an AK-pattern rifle that had earlier been stolen from a Nigerian Army soldier killed in a separate attack in April, a discovery that widened the scope of the investigation.

Military authorities said investigations are continuing to determine the full network behind the attempted attack and any links to previous security incidents in the Kuru–Vom axis. They also reassured residents that security has been strengthened around NIPSS and surrounding communities
