The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack on Government Day Secondary School, Lassa, Borno State, declaring that Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) are enemies of Islam and humanity.
In a statement signed by its Deputy National Legal Adviser, Imam Haroun Muhammad Eze, the council expressed sympathy to the families of those killed, injured, or abducted during the attack. It stressed that the terrorists’ actions have no basis in Islamic teachings and should not be associated with the religion.
The NSCIA urged the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the abducted students, bring the perpetrators to justice, and strengthen security around schools and vulnerable communities. The council also called on Nigerians to remain united against terrorism and reject attempts to portray extremist violence as representing Islam.
The council further appealed to religious leaders and communities to continue promoting peace, tolerance, and coexistence, while encouraging citizens to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible intelligence that could help prevent future attacks
