British actor Micheal Ward, best known for his role as Jamie Tovell in Netflix’s Top Boy, has been found not guilty of rape and sexual assault charges by a jury at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London.

Ward, 28, had faced five charges linked to an alleged incident involving a woman he met at a New Year’s party in London in January 2023. The allegations included two counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of sexual assault. He denied all allegations, maintaining that the encounter was consensual.

After a 10-day trial, the jury cleared Ward of all charges. The actor reportedly broke down in tears after the verdict was delivered. His lawyer said the decision confirmed Ward’s position that the encounter was consensual and that the case had significantly affected his personal life and acting career.

Ward, who won the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2020, is also known for appearances in Small Axe, Blue Story, Empire of Light, and The Book of Clarence
