A fresh attack by suspected armed gunmen has claimed the life of a farmer in Butura Gida, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, adding to the growing wave of violence in the state. The victim, identified as Bitrus Mairiga, was reportedly attacked while working on his farm.
According to local sources, the assailants fled the scene after the attack. Community leaders described the killing as another setback for farming communities already living under constant fear due to recurring attacks.
Residents have called on security agencies to intensify patrols and provide better protection for rural communities, especially during the farming season, when farmers are most vulnerable. The latest incident comes just days after a series of deadly attacks in other parts of Plateau State that left several people dead and others injured.
