A major fire has broken out at the Bono Energy Terminal in the Coconut area of Olodi Apapa, Lagos, prompting an emergency response from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS). The incident occurred on Friday, with firefighters deployed to prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby fuel storage facilities.
The spokesperson for the LSFRS, Shakiru Amodu, confirmed that emergency crews were battling the fire at the terminal located along the Apapa–Oworonshoki Expressway. He said firefighters were working to contain the situation, adding that further updates would be provided as the operation continued.
As of the latest reports, no casualties or injuries had been confirmed, while the cause of the fire remained unknown. Authorities have yet to determine the extent of damage to the terminal or surrounding facilities.
Emergency responders urged motorists and residents to avoid the area to allow firefighting operations to continue unhindered. Investigations into the cause of the incident are expected to begin after the fire is fully extinguished
