Former Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on National Assembly Matters, Ibrahim Olarewaju, has denied allegations that he violated electoral guidelines by failing to resign his appointment before contesting in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary for the Ekiti North Federal Constituency II seat.

In a statement issued by his media office through Moses Owoyemi, Olarewaju insisted that he fully complied with all constitutional, legal, and APC requirements before participating in the primary election. The statement described his victory as the result of years of grassroots engagement and a transparent, democratic process conducted in line with party rules.

According to the statement, Olarewaju’s resignation as Senior Special Assistant took effect on March 31, 2026, in compliance with the Federal Government’s directive requiring political appointees seeking elective office to resign before contesting. His team said the resignation is a matter of public record and can be verified through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

The former presidential aide dismissed the allegations as false and misleading, arguing that there is no evidence to support claims that he breached the law. His media office also called on party members to put the primary behind them and unite ahead of the general election
