Fresh documents have raised questions about the role of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) in processing requests from the now-disowned Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), which the Presidency has described as a fictitious agency.
According to the documents, the PFIPC’s self-styled Director-General, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, wrote to the SGF’s office on November 7, 2024, requesting office accommodation from Federal Government properties. The OSGF received the letter on November 12 and, on November 21, formally forwarded the request to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for consideration. The forwarding letter was signed by Nnamdi Maurice Mbaeri, Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, on behalf of the SGF.
The correspondence reportedly listed the PFIPC alongside other government institutions seeking office space, indicating that the request was processed through official channels before the Presidency later declared the council non-existent.
The documents have emerged amid the prosecution of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, who is accused of forging presidential appointment documents, falsely presenting himself as the PFIPC’s Director-General, and operating a non-existent government agency. He has denied the allegations and maintains that he will defend himself in court.
The revelations have intensified scrutiny over how the purported agency was able to interact with multiple government institutions before its legitimacy was questioned. The Presidency has maintained that the PFIPC was never an officially established federal agency
