Nigerian Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy has become the African artist with the highest monthly listeners in Spotify history, reaching a record 46.84 million monthly listeners on the streaming platform. The milestone surpasses the previous African record of 46.58 million held by South African star Tyla.
The achievement was driven largely by the global success of “Dai Dai,” Burna Boy’s collaboration with Shakira, which serves as one of the official songs for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The track has attracted millions of streams worldwide, significantly boosting his monthly audience.
This latest milestone comes just days after Burna Boy also became the Nigerian artist with the highest monthly listeners in Spotify history, further cementing his status as one of Africa’s biggest global music exports.
Despite the record, Burna Boy remains behind several global superstars in Spotify’s all-time rankings, which are led by artists such as Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, and The Weeknd
