Brentford have secured the long-term future of defender Michael Kayode after the Italy Under-21 international signed a new contract that will keep him at the Premier League club until the summer of 2032, with an option to extend for a further year.
The 21-year-old right-back, who joined Brentford from Fiorentina on loan in January 2025 before making the move permanent later that year, has quickly established himself as one of the club’s standout young players. He has made 56 appearances across all competitions and was nominated for the Premier League Young Player of the Season award following an impressive 2025/26 campaign.
Brentford head coach Keith Andrews praised Kayode’s development, describing him as “a joy to coach” and saying the defender embodies the club’s values both on and off the pitch. Andrews added that the club is delighted Kayode has committed his future to the Bees.
Speaking after signing the deal, Kayode said he was happy to continue his journey at Brentford, expressing gratitude to the club, teammates and supporters for helping him settle in England.
The new contract is seen as a significant boost for Brentford, who have moved swiftly to tie down one of their most promising young talents amid reported interest from several top European clubs
