Nollywood actor James Olarenwaju, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has revealed that the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, honoured him with a brand-new car, luxurious gifts, and a chieftaincy title during a recent visit to the royal palace.
Sharing photos from the palace on social media, the actor expressed gratitude to the monarch for the warm reception and said he and his wife, Afolashade Omiyinka, were deeply touched by the honour. He also claimed that he was conferred with the chieftaincy title “Baba Awada Konge Oduwa.”
In his appreciation message, Baba Ijesha thanked the Ooni for the gifts and the confidence shown in him, describing the recognition as one of the greatest honours of his life.
The announcement has generated mixed reactions on social media, with some Nigerians congratulating the actor while others questioned the decision, given the controversy surrounding his past legal issues. As of the time of reporting, the Ooni’s palace had not publicly confirmed the car gift or the chieftaincy title
