The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber, Austine Emenike, popularly known as “Oyibo,” during an intelligence-led operation in Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Blessing Agabe, the operation was carried out on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, following credible intelligence. During the raid, officers recovered one locally made pistol, four single-barrel guns, and five live cartridges from the suspect.
The police described the arrest as a major breakthrough in the command’s ongoing campaign against violent crime, adding that preliminary investigations have linked the suspect to a wider armed robbery network operating in the state. Detectives are currently pursuing other members of the syndicate.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to tackling armed robbery and other violent crimes, urging residents to continue providing timely information that will assist security agencies in maintaining law and order
