A Nigerian man has been arrested in India for allegedly trafficking cocaine concealed inside blood pressure (BP) machine boxes in a sophisticated drug smuggling operation.
The suspect, identified as Tochukwu Afame, was arrested alongside an Indian accomplice, Sunny Sharma, during a police operation in Delhi linked to an international drug trafficking network.
According to investigators, the suspects hid cocaine inside medical equipment packaging, using BP machine boxes to avoid detection while transporting the drugs through courier services from Delhi to other cities such as Raipur.
Police said the method was deliberately designed to bypass routine security checks, making the parcels appear like legitimate medical shipments.
The case reportedly began after earlier intelligence in March led to the arrest of a local suspect in Raipur, where a small quantity of cocaine was recovered. This breakthrough helped authorities trace a wider drug network operating across state and international lines.
Following further investigation, officers raided a location in Delhi where Afame and Sharma were eventually arrested. During interrogation, both suspects allegedly admitted involvement in the drug trafficking syndicate, which investigators believe has links extending outside India.
