The Performing Musicians
Employers’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN), under the constitutionally recognised
and court-affirmed leadership of its President, Mr. Pretty Okafor, has firmly
dismissed as false, illegal and inconsequential a communiqué allegedly issued
by a group of suspended and dismissed individuals claiming to act as the
National Executive Council (NEC).
PMAN states unequivocally that no
valid NEC meeting was held on 25 December 2025. What took place, according to
the association, was an unlawful gathering lacking constitutional authority and
conducted in clear disregard of both PMAN’s Constitution and subsisting court
orders.
The association described the
action as a desperate attempt to mislead PMAN members, the public and
law-enforcement agencies amid ongoing investigations involving Mr. Olusco,
noting that PMAN’s Constitution is binding and not subject to informal meetings,
emotional declarations or political manoeuvring.
Constitutional and Legal
Clarifications
For the avoidance of doubt, PMAN
draws attention to the following:
Article 11(G) of the PMAN
Constitution clearly states that a valid NEC meeting can only be convened by
the General Secretary in consultation with the President. No such process was
followed.
Article 11(I), which outlines who
presides over NEC meetings, becomes applicable only after a valid NEC meeting
has been duly convened under Article 11(G).
A subsisting court order dated 30
October 2025 in Suit No. NICN/LA/48/2025 expressly restrains any alteration to
PMAN’s leadership structure pending the final determination of the suit. This
order remains binding on all parties.
PMAN therefore maintains that the
purported “suspension” of its President is constitutionally invalid,
procedurally defective and a direct contempt of court.
Allegations and Ongoing
Investigations
The association further disclosed
that the unlawful communiqué forms part of a wider pattern of conduct currently
under investigation by law-enforcement agencies. PMAN noted that it is already
on record that ₦144 million was allegedly offered by Mr. Olusco through Aita
Bonny to facilitate the removal of Mr. Pretty Okafor at all costs, an
allegation now before investigators.
PMAN insists that all individuals
involved in this coordinated effort to obstruct justice and frustrate ongoing
investigations will be held accountable in accordance with the law.
The association also clarified
that Aita Bonny remains a signatory to PMAN’s bank account, adding that anyone
in possession of verifiable evidence of unauthorized withdrawals or
transactions since 2024 should present such evidence to the appropriate authorities.
Message to PMAN Members
PMAN urged its members across
Nigeria and the diaspora to remain calm and vigilant, stressing that no
legitimate action can be taken outside the provisions of the Constitution or in
violation of a valid court order.
“These actions represent
desperation by individuals seeking to distract from their legal liabilities.
This is not a suspension; it is a futile exercise with no legal consequence,”
the association stated.
PMAN confirmed that relevant
law-enforcement agencies have been formally briefed on the development and that
those responsible for the fake communiqué should be prepared to account for
their actions.
The association reiterated that
its President has consistently expressed willingness to cooperate fully with
investigators and challenged anyone with credible evidence to present same,
rather than relying on rumours or conjecture.
PMAN also referenced the publicly
available audio recording involving Baba Ojonugwa and Sidney Jack Sparrow,
expressing hope that all parties mentioned will honour invitations from
law-enforcement agencies to aid investigations.
The association concluded by
stating that the unfolding drama is an attempt to conceal alleged crimes linked
to the PMAN Monaco Project, warning that anyone found to have
participated—directly or indirectly—in any cover-up will face the full weight
of the law.
