Nigerian dancer and singer Iweh Pascal Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, has reportedly been arrested in the United Kingdom over an alleged rape case, according to reports circulating on Wednesday.
The claim has sparked widespread reactions online, coming amid separate sexual-assault allegations made against the entertainer by a US-based Nigerian artiste known as Ms Jorji.
However, the reported arrest has not been independently confirmed by UK police, a court or another official law-enforcement authority. Reports also indicate that it remains unclear whether Poco Lee has been formally charged, who the alleged complainant is, or the circumstances surrounding the reported case.
Ms Jorji makes separate allegations
The reports emerged after Ms Jorji, a Texas-based rapper, shared a video in which she accused Poco Lee of attempting to sexually assault her and her friend approximately two years ago.
According to her account, she and her friend had gone to meet the entertainer in Dallas while she was seeking his guidance about her music career. She alleged that Poco Lee behaved inappropriately towards both women during the encounter.
The allegations have not been established by a court, and there is no independent confirmation that the incident described by Ms Jorji is connected to the reported UK arrest.
Arrest claim remains unverified
While several Nigerian media platforms have reported that Poco Lee was arrested in Britain, the reports themselves acknowledge the absence of official confirmation.
No UK police force or court has publicly been identified as confirming that the entertainer is currently in custody. Poco Lee or his representatives had also not publicly addressed the reported arrest at the time of the latest reports.
The distinction is important because being accused or reportedly arrested does not establish guilt. Any criminal allegation would have to be investigated and, where charges are brought, determined through the appropriate legal process.
Poco Lee rose to prominence through his dance performances and later expanded his career into music and entertainment. He has worked with several major Nigerian artistes and has built a substantial following.
