President Bola Tinubu is set to officially unveil the ₦2.4 trillion Abuja City Walk development on Thursday, marking the commencement of one of Nigeria’s most ambitious mixed-use urban projects. The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at Plot 28, Cadastral Zone C17, Industrial Area II, Abuja, with construction expected to begin immediately after the event.
The 250-hectare development, located along the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport corridor, is being promoted by MAG Group, through MAG International Links Limited, in partnership with Link Developments. The project is situated within a designated Free Trade Zone, offering tax incentives and a favourable regulatory environment aimed at attracting long-term local and foreign investment.
Designed by internationally renowned architecture firm Benoy, the Abuja City Walk masterplan will feature a 450-metre skyscraper, projected to become Africa’s tallest building. The development will also include commercial offices, luxury residences, hotels, a 13,000-seat indoor sports and entertainment arena, retail outlets, cultural centres and an arts district with approximately 12,000 square metres of exhibition and performance spaces.
A key highlight of the project is “The Living Ravine,” an ecological corridor built around a sustainable “Sponge District” concept that incorporates wetlands, green waterways and rainwater harvesting systems to improve flood management and climate resilience. According to the developers, the innovative landscape design has already been shortlisted for the 2026 World Landscape Architecture Awards.
The unveiling ceremony is also expected to feature the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Link Developments and Saudi royal Prince Khalid bin Saud bin Khalid bin Turki Al Saud, alongside participation from the Nigeria-Arab Gulf Chamber of Commerce, underscoring growing investment interest from the Gulf region. Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has described the project as a major step toward transforming Abuja into a global investment, tourism and commercial hub while creating thousands of jobs for Nigerians.
