The family of a missing farmer, Abdulazeez Abiodun, popularly known as Kebe, has appealed to security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into his death after his body was discovered in a bush in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State.

According to the family, Abdulazeez left home to work on his cocoa farm but failed to return, prompting relatives and local vigilantes to launch a search. His body was later found in a nearby bush under disturbing circumstances, with reports indicating that his hands had been tied, raising suspicions of foul play.

Speaking on behalf of the family, the deceased’s second daughter, Rofiat Abdulazeez, urged the police, human rights organisations and well-meaning Nigerians to ensure that those responsible for her father’s death are identified and brought to justice. She described the incident as devastating and called for a transparent investigation.

The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the killing and announced that a full investigation is underway. Commissioner of Police Ojo Adekimi has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case and deploy all available investigative and intelligence resources to identify and arrest those behind the crime. Police said preliminary findings showed that the victim’s motorcycle was found parked on his farmland, while his body was discovered a short distance away with deep machete wounds.

The tragic incident has sparked concern among residents over the security of farmers and rural communities in the state. Family members and community leaders have called on the authorities to ensure justice is served and to strengthen security measures to prevent similar attacks in the future.
