A blogger, Ejike Ofoegbu, has publicly admitted to fabricating a series of stories about Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his son, Ozonna Soludo, saying the false reports were published to generate online traffic, audience engagement and financial gain.

Ofoegbu, the publisher of Igbo Times Magazine and INews, issued an unconditional apology and full retraction, acknowledging that the stories were completely false and not based on verified facts or credible sources. He admitted that neither Governor Soludo, his son nor any member of their family provided the information he published.

Among the claims he retracted were reports alleging that Governor Soludo had disowned his son, that Ozonna described his father as a drunkard who abused his mother, and other fabricated statements involving the governor and former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi. He accepted full responsibility for publishing the false reports and urged the public to disregard them entirely.

Explaining his actions, the blogger said he was motivated by the desire to increase website traffic and earn more revenue through online engagement. He stated that he now recognises that no financial benefit or social media attention can justify spreading misinformation or damaging another person’s reputation.

Ofoegbu apologised to Governor Soludo, his family, readers of his platforms and the people of Anambra State for the embarrassment caused by the fabricated publications. He pledged not to repeat such actions and said the statement serves as his complete and unconditional retraction of the false reports.
