Former Chelsea midfielder and Morocco international Florent Malouda has criticized Brazil following their 1-1 draw against Morocco in a 2026 FIFA World Cup Group C match.
Speaking after the game, Malouda said the Brazilian team no longer carries the fear factor that once intimidated opponents around the world. He argued that while Brazil still possesses talented players, recent performances suggest they are no longer the dominant force they were in previous generations.
Brazil took the lead during the match but were unable to hold on as Morocco fought back to secure a valuable point. The result left the five-time world champions facing increased pressure ahead of their remaining group-stage fixtures.
Malouda praised Morocco’s organization and resilience, saying the North African side showed they were capable of competing with football’s traditional powerhouses. He added that modern teams no longer approach Brazil with the same apprehension that existed during the eras of legends such as Pelé, Ronaldo, and Ronaldinho.
The former Chelsea star reportedly remarked that Brazil “don’t scare anybody anymore,” suggesting that opponents now believe they can earn results against the South American giants.
The draw was one of the biggest talking points of the tournament’s opening days. Morocco’s disciplined display earned praise from pundits, while Brazil faced questions over their creativity and ability to break down well-organized defenses.
For Morocco, the result strengthened hopes of progressing from Group C, which also includes Scotland and Haiti. Brazil will be looking to respond in their next match as they seek to avoid an early setback in their quest for a sixth World Cup title.
