The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has uploaded about 83% of polling unit results from the ongoing Ekiti State governorship election to its INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal, as collation of votes continues across the state.
According to updates from the commission, thousands of polling unit results had already been successfully transmitted to the portal, allowing voters, political parties, and observers to view scanned copies of result sheets in near real time. The development is being seen as a key test of INEC’s commitment to transparency and technology-driven elections.
INEC officials noted that uploads were still ongoing in some areas due to network and logistical challenges, expressing confidence that the remaining results would be transmitted as collation progresses. Election observers have continued to monitor the process while urging the commission to maintain accuracy and transparency.
The IReV platform was introduced to enhance public confidence in election results by enabling independent verification of polling unit outcomes before final declarations are made. Political parties and stakeholders are closely watching the uploads as the race for the Ekiti Government House enters its decisive stage.
