Authorities in Libya have arrested two Nigerian nationals accused of publishing social media content deemed capable of inciting public unrest and undermining national security.

According to the Libyan Internal Security Agency, the suspects were taken into custody after investigations linked them to online posts and activities that allegedly promoted division, spread misinformation, and encouraged actions considered harmful to public order. The development comes amid heightened scrutiny of online activities in Libya, where security agencies have intensified efforts to tackle what they describe as digital threats, including hate speech, misinformation, and content capable of provoking violence or social unrest.

The Nigerian government had not issued an official statement on the arrests as of the time of reporting. Diplomatic channels are expected to monitor the case closely to ensure that the rights of the detained citizens are protected.
