Marc Cucurella has completed a permanent transfer from Chelsea FC to Real Madrid CF, with both clubs officially confirming the deal.
The Spanish left-back has signed a six-year contract running until June 2032, becoming Real Madrid’s first major signing since the return of manager José Mourinho.
Although neither club disclosed the exact transfer fee, multiple reports indicate the deal is worth up to £51.8 million (€60 million/$69.5 million), including add-ons.
Cucurella, 27, joined Chelsea from Brighton in 2022 and went on to establish himself as one of the club’s key defenders. During his time at Stamford Bridge, he helped the Blues win the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup, while also becoming a regular for Spain’s national team.
Reports suggest Mourinho personally pushed for the signing as Real Madrid sought to strengthen the left side of their defence following a disappointing 2025-26 campaign.
The defender is expected to join his new teammates after completing his World Cup duties with Spain.
