President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to defeat terrorism, banditry, and other forms of violent crime, declaring that Nigeria will not bow to intimidation from terrorists or criminal groups. The President made the pledge during the National Inter-Denominational Church Service held in Abuja as part of activities marking the 2026 Democracy Day celebrations.

Speaking through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, Tinubu said the safety of Nigerians remains a top priority and assured citizens that security agencies are receiving the resources needed to confront threats across the country. He described recent attacks, kidnappings, and killings as painful reminders that more work remains to be done.

The President stressed that the government is intensifying nationwide security operations and remains committed to securing the release of all persons held captive. According to him, the safe return of abducted citizens, including schoolchildren and teachers, is a national priority.

Tinubu also stated that Nigeria would not surrender to terrorists, bandits, or any group seeking to undermine the country’s peace and stability. He pledged continued support for intelligence-led operations and coordinated security measures aimed at protecting communities and preserving Nigeria’s territorial integrity.

The remarks come amid ongoing military and security operations in several parts of the country, including efforts against Boko Haram, ISWAP, bandit groups, and kidnappers. Recent operations have resulted in the rescue of abductees and the disruption of terrorist hideouts, according to government and military reports.

The President also acknowledged the economic hardships facing many Nigerians and said his administration would continue pursuing policies intended to improve security and ease the burden on citizens.
