Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued 53 kidnapped victims and recovered eight vehicles during coordinated counter-terrorism operations in Borno State, in the country’s North-East region.
According to military sources, the operations were carried out in multiple locations targeting suspected terrorist and kidnapping networks, leading to the successful liberation of civilians who had been held captive by armed groups.
The rescued victims were reportedly freed during clearance operations in areas affected by insurgency, while the recovered vehicles are believed to have been stolen during previous attacks along major highways and rural communities.
Security officials said the rescued hostages have been handed over to relevant authorities for medical attention, debriefing, and eventual reunification with their families.
The military added that the operations are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist cells, disrupt logistics networks, and restore safety in Borno and other parts of the North-East.
Authorities have continued to urge residents to provide timely intelligence to security agencies to support ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the region.
