Former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was seen at the Lagos office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday as investigators continue probing allegations of financial misconduct during his tenure.

According to reports, Okowa’s visit was linked to the EFCC’s ongoing investigation into the alleged diversion of about ₦1.3 trillion in 13% derivation funds received by Delta State between 2015 and 2023. The former governor was previously arrested and questioned by the anti-graft agency in November 2024 over the allegations.

Sources quoted by several media outlets said Okowa’s latest appearance at the Lagos office may also be connected to efforts to recover his international passport, reportedly to enable him travel abroad for medical treatment. As of the latest reports, it was unclear whether the request had been granted.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no formal charges have yet been filed against the former governor. Okowa has consistently denied wrongdoing, insisting that Delta State funds were properly utilized during his administration and that he is willing to cooperate with investigators
