Former Labour Party chieftain and actor-turned-politician Kenneth Okonkwo has escalated his allegations against former presidential candidate Peter Obi and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), insisting that his claims about bribery involving aspirants are backed by evidence, including WhatsApp conversations he says he has now made public.

Okonkwo had earlier alleged during a television interview that some aspirants in the NDC primaries were asked to pay about ₦10 million as part of the selection process, a claim that quickly triggered controversy and strong reactions from political supporters across social media.

In his latest remarks, he maintained that his allegations were not fabricated, stating that he obtained details from an aspirant who allegedly shared receipts and communications related to the payment.

The development has further deepened political tension around the emerging NDC structure and its internal processes, with supporters of Peter Obi rejecting the accusations and describing them as politically motivated.

The controversy has also sparked wider debate online, with supporters and critics of both sides trading accusations over the credibility of the claims and the integrity of the party’s primaries.

As of now, neither Peter Obi nor the NDC leadership has publicly confirmed the allegations made by Okonkwo, while legal and political responses are reportedly being considered by affected parties.
