The OK Movement, a political advocacy group linked to the broader support structure for opposition figures in Nigeria, has reportedly expressed support for Rabiu Kwankwaso’s ₦10 billion defamation lawsuit against cleric Primate Elijah Ayodele.
According to the group, the legal action is aimed at addressing what it described as “repeated defamatory statements” allegedly made by the cleric against Kwankwaso in public prophecies and media appearances.
The movement said it supports the lawsuit as a necessary step to protect reputations in Nigeria’s political space and to discourage the spread of unverified claims capable of influencing public perception ahead of future elections.
Kwankwaso’s legal team is seeking ₦10 billion in damages, arguing that the statements in question were damaging to his image and political standing. Primate Ayodele, however, is known for issuing controversial political predictions and prophecies that often attract public debate.
The matter has sparked mixed reactions online, with supporters of Kwankwaso backing the court action, while critics argue that political figures should be tolerant of public commentary, especially from religious leaders.
Legal proceedings are expected to continue as the court considers the merits of the defamation claim
