President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has warned criminal elements across Nigeria that they will find “no hiding place” following the killing of a notorious bandit leader, Ibrahim Bastuji, during a military operation in Kogi State. The President described the development as a major victory in the fight against banditry and violent crime.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu commended the Armed Forces and other security agencies for neutralising Bastuji, who was allegedly responsible for numerous attacks, kidnappings, and acts of violence in Kogi and neighbouring states.

The President said the operation dealt a significant blow to criminal networks and reassured Nigerians that his administration remains committed to reclaiming every part of the country’s territory from bandits and terrorists. He emphasized that those who choose violence against innocent citizens would continue to face the full force of the law.

Tinubu also praised security forces for rescuing Hajiya Amina Rabe Abubakar, widow of late Major General Rabe Abubakar, who was abducted by bandits in Katsina State. He described the rescue as a demonstration of the courage, professionalism, and dedication of Nigeria’s security personnel.

The President pledged continued support for the military through improved resources, training, and intelligence capabilities, while urging citizens to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information.

The successful operation comes amid intensified military offensives against bandit groups across parts of North-Central and North-West Nigeria, where authorities have been seeking to curb kidnappings, attacks on communities, and other forms of violent crime.
