Troops of the Nigerian Army, working alongside the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), have arrested 46 suspected undocumented foreign nationals during a security operation in Ogun State.

According to military authorities, the operation began on June 11, 2026, following actionable intelligence and was carried out in Ijebu Imushin, Ijebu Ilese, and surrounding communities within the state.

The suspects comprise 18 citizens of Burkina Faso, 23 from Côte d’Ivoire, four from Togo, and one from Senegal. Security officials said the group includes 36 males and 10 females.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the individuals had allegedly been living in Ogun State for about six months without valid immigration documents. During questioning, some of the suspects reportedly claimed to be merchants and workers affiliated with QNet, an online marketing platform.

The Army said the suspects have been handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service for further investigation and any necessary administrative actions in line with Nigerian immigration laws.

Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Friday Oguche Onu, commended the troops and collaborating agencies for their professionalism, stressing that security forces will continue efforts to combat illegal migration and other threats to national security.

The arrest highlights ongoing efforts by Nigerian security agencies to strengthen border security, enforce immigration regulations, and address security concerns linked to undocumented migration.
