Nigerian actor Joseph Momodu has officially left Nollywood after enlisting in the United States Army, where he has now completed 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and earned the rank of Specialist (SPC).
Momodu announced the development via social media, revealing that he was “unreachable for 10 weeks” while undergoing intensive military training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
He described the decision as the fulfilment of a long-held dream and a way of honouring his late father, who served in the Nigeria Police Force.
The actor, known for roles in Nollywood films and TV series such as The Johnsons and Tinsel, said the transition from acting to military service reflects his belief in discipline, service, and personal growth.
Momodu’s move has sparked reactions online, with fans praising his courage to switch careers and pursue a completely different path outside entertainment.
