A senatorial aspirant of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for Osun Central, Nathaniel Oduyemi, has condemned the rising cases of political violence and thuggery in Osun State ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Oduyemi described the recent incidents as disturbing and unacceptable, saying reports and videos circulating online show alleged political thugs attacking residents and destroying property.

He said the violence does not represent the values of Osun State and warned that no political ambition is worth the blood of citizens, stressing that elections should be a contest of ideas, not intimidation or brutality.

The aspirant also called on the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to act quickly, arrest those responsible, and ensure justice is served to prevent further escalation.

He further urged youths not to allow themselves to be used for violence, and appealed for peaceful and issue-based campaigns across all political parties in the state
