Former Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, has accused former Kano State governor and NNPP leader Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of diverting billions of naira in public funds into a private account for personal projects.

According to Muhyi, Kwankwaso allegedly received over ₦1 billion in December 2023 for the construction of a personal house and another ₦525 million for the construction of an office. He claimed the funds were routed through a private account rather than official government channels.

Muhyi made the allegations in a video that has circulated widely on social media, where he called for a thorough investigation into the transactions and the source of the funds. He alleged that due process was not followed in the handling of the money.

As of the time of reporting, Kwankwaso had not publicly responded to the latest allegations. It is important to note that the claims remain allegations and have not been proven in court. No law enforcement agency has announced charges against the former governor in relation to the specific accusations.

The allegations have added to political tensions in Kano ahead of the 2027 elections, with supporters and critics of the NNPP leader debating the claims across social media and political circles
