The widow of late Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has appealed to Nigerians for financial assistance, revealing that she and her children are struggling to pay house rent, school fees, and other basic living expenses.
The appeal was made during an emotional interview with content creator King Mitchy, where Mr Ibu’s wife, Stella Okafor, disclosed that the family’s electricity had been disconnected for about two months due to unpaid bills. She said they now fetch water from a well and often have to look for places to charge their phones.
According to Mrs. Okafor, the family’s financial situation has become so difficult that her children are at risk of dropping out of school because their fees remain unpaid. One of the actor’s daughters praised her mother for doing everything possible to keep the family together despite the hardship.
The family is seeking support to enable the children return to school, pay outstanding rent, and restore electricity to their home. Mr Ibu, one of Nigeria’s most celebrated comic actors, died on March 2, 2024, at the age of 62 after a prolonged illness
