A Nigerian pilgrim participating in the 2026 Hajj exercise has died following a road accident in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, according to reports from Nigerian pilgrimage authorities. The tragic incident also left other pilgrims injured, with victims receiving treatment at Saudi medical facilities.
The deceased was among Nigerian pilgrims who had traveled to Saudi Arabia for the annual pilgrimage. Officials said emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, while the injured were taken to hospital for medical attention.
The incident adds to a series of deaths involving Nigerian pilgrims during this year’s Hajj. The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has previously confirmed several fatalities resulting from illness and other causes during the pilgrimage.
