The Kaduna State Police Command has rescued three kidnap victims who spent more than 40 days in captivity and arrested five suspected informants linked to the kidnapping syndicate.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, the rescue followed a coordinated operation involving operatives from the Fushin Kada Division and personnel from the Hunkuyi Division, based on intelligence gathering and surveillance.
The rescued victims were identified as:
- Ekechikwu Omale
- Ummi Salisu of Kudan Local Government Area, Kaduna State
- Pastor Daniel Tanko Bawa of Tufa Village, Niger State
Police said that when the kidnappers spotted the advancing security team, they fled the area and abandoned the captives, who were rescued unharmed.
The victims were subsequently taken to a police clinic for medical examination and treatment before being reunited with their families.
During the investigation, security operatives also arrested five suspects alleged to have acted as informants for the kidnappers by providing intelligence and logistical support. Police said the suspects confessed during interrogation, though investigations are ongoing.
Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, commended the officers and collaborating security agencies for the successful operation and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.
