The Kaduna State Police Command has foiled an alleged human trafficking operation involving teenage girls who were reportedly being moved from Kaduna to Ivory Coast.

According to security sources, the girls were intercepted during a police operation after intelligence reports raised suspicion about their movement. The victims, all teenagers, were rescued before they could be taken out of the country, while suspects linked to the trafficking attempt were arrested for questioning.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the victims were allegedly being recruited under false promises of better opportunities abroad. Authorities believe the operation may be connected to a wider human trafficking network operating across state and international borders.

The police said efforts are ongoing to identify other members of the syndicate and ensure the rescued girls receive the necessary protection and support. Human trafficking remains a major concern in Nigeria, with traffickers often targeting vulnerable young women and girls with promises of jobs or education overseas.

Security agencies urged parents and guardians to be vigilant and verify offers involving overseas travel, warning that many trafficking victims are lured through deception and false employment opportunities
