The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), in partnership with Rite Foods Limited, is set to honour seven outstanding Nigerian undergraduates with ₦5 million each at a maiden academic excellence award ceremony scheduled to hold in Lagos on Tuesday.
According to a statement by JAMB’s Public Communication Adviser, Fabian Benjamin, the initiative is aimed at recognising exceptional academic performance in the 2025 admission exercise, particularly excellence recorded in the UTME and post-UTME or institutional screening processes.
The board explained that the awardees were selected through a transparent, merit-based process, with recipients drawn from across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, while one award will go to the highest-performing admitted candidate living with a disability.
Each of the seven beneficiaries will receive ₦5 million in cash recognition, and the ceremony is expected to bring together key education stakeholders, vice-chancellors, government officials, and development partners.
JAMB said the partnership reflects a broader effort to promote academic excellence, reward merit, and inspire Nigerian students to perform better in higher education
