Israel’s military has announced the removal of all remaining war-related restrictions in communities along its northern border, following a ceasefire that has significantly reduced hostilities with the Iran-backed group Hezbollah. The decision affects the so-called “Confrontation Line” communities near the Lebanese border, where residents had lived under emergency security measures for months.
According to the Israeli military, all restrictions on movement, gatherings, schools, and public activities in the northern border region were lifted from Monday morning, allowing residents to return to normal routines.
The move comes after a ceasefire brokered with Hezbollah took effect and has resulted in the longest lull in violence since the conflict escalated earlier this year. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said the military would nevertheless maintain a security presence in parts of southern Lebanon and reserves the right to act against any perceived threats.
Earlier this month, Israel had already eased restrictions across most of the country, but some northern communities remained under partial limitations due to continued rocket and drone threats. The latest announcement removes those remaining measures.
