Morocco national team coach Mohamed Ouahbi says captain Achraf Hakimi is “calm” and fully focused on football despite the ongoing rape trial he is facing in France.
Ouahbi made the comments after Morocco’s World Cup win over Scotland, saying Hakimi remained mentally stable, professional, and unaffected by the legal case during camp. He noted that the defender trained well, ate normally, and even motivated teammates ahead of matches.
The coach also stressed that the Moroccan squad is fully behind their captain, describing him as “very relaxed” and insisting the team is not distracted by the off-field allegations.
Hakimi, who denies the accusations, continues to feature at the tournament while facing a legal process in France related to an alleged 2023 incident. Despite the controversy and crowd reactions during matches, Morocco’s coaching staff maintain that his performances on the pitch remain unaffected.
