Gunmen have abducted Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power and Oyo APC governorship aspirant, Adebayo Adelabu, along with her twin sons in Ibadan, Oyo State.
According to a statement issued by Adelabu’s media aide, Femi Awogboro, the victims were kidnapped in the early hours of Wednesday, June 3, 2026, while Mrs. John-Paul was taking her children to school.
The family said the 43-year-old woman was intercepted by armed gunmen at about 7:30 a.m. in the Challenge/Elewura area of Ibadan South-West Local Government Area. Her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, were also forcefully taken by the attackers.
An eyewitness told reporters that the assailants ambushed the family while they were heading toward the expressway before whisking them away to an unknown destination.
The family confirmed that security agencies were immediately notified and have launched investigations and rescue efforts. They also appealed to the public to remain calm and provide any useful information that could assist authorities.
Mrs. John-Paul is reported to be a former staff member of both the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian. She had reportedly relocated to Ibadan with her children and was planning to join her husband in the United States.
The incident has heightened concerns over insecurity in Oyo State, which has recently witnessed a series of kidnappings and attacks, including the abduction of teachers and pupils in Oriire Local Government Area.
As of the latest reports, no group has claimed responsibility for the abduction, and the whereabouts of the victims remain unknown.
