The Nigeria Police Force has successfully rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, along with her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, days after they were abducted in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Mrs. John-Paul and her children were kidnapped on June 3, 2026, while she was taking the boys to school. The abduction sparked widespread concern across Oyo State and prompted a major security operation.
According to police sources, the victims were rescued alive during a late-night operation on June 6 after sustained intelligence gathering and tracking of the kidnappers. Security operatives reportedly forced the gang into a confrontation, leading to a gun battle.
During the operation:
- Two suspected kidnappers were killed.
- Two firearms were recovered.
- The victims were rescued unharmed.
The rescue came a day after Seyi Makinde visited Adelabu and assured the family that security agencies were working to secure the release of the abductees.
Police have continued combing nearby forests and communities for other members of the kidnapping syndicate who reportedly escaped during the gunfight, some of whom may have sustained gunshot wounds.
The successful rescue has brought relief to the family and residents of Oyo State amid growing concerns about kidnapping and insecurity in the region.
