A former ally of Peter Obi, Valentine Ahanotu, has criticized the former Anambra governor, alleging that Obi is “not a builder” and has failed to adequately support people who worked with him politically. According to Ahanotu, Obi’s political style focuses more on rhetoric than on building enduring political structures and rewarding loyal supporters.
Ahanotu reportedly argued that many individuals who backed Obi’s political journey felt abandoned after helping him achieve political success. He claimed that Obi often distances himself from associates once political objectives have been achieved.
The comments come amid continued debate over Obi’s leadership style and political future ahead of the 2027 elections. Supporters of Obi, however, point to his record as former governor of Anambra State and his emphasis on governance, accountability, and economic reforms as evidence of his leadership credentials.
There is no indication that Obi has formally responded to Ahanotu’s latest remarks.
